Smart Mum

Health Pilot
Description

Smart Mum is a digital health innovation that helps pregnant and aspiring mothers access trusted medical information, track their baby’s growth week by week, and connect with nearby hospitals, ambulances, and health services. The platform also promotes maternal and menstrual health education and allows fathers to save for their unborn babies through a feature called Daddy Wallet. By combining technology, awareness, and community support, Smart Mum is making pregnancy safer and motherhood easier for families across Uganda.

Impact

Smart Mum Uganda is creating a strong social and economic impact by improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes while empowering communities. Socially, it reduces maternal and infant deaths by connecting mothers to timely healthcare, credible information, and emergency support. It also promotes menstrual hygiene and keeps girls in school through the distribution of reusable pads and education programs. Economically, Smart Mum supports local production and sale of health products like mama kits and baby items, creating jobs for youth and women. The Daddy Wallet feature encourages family financial planning, while digital tools enhance data-driven decision-making in health facilities, fostering healthier, more resilient communities and families.

Target Audience

The main beneficiaries of Smart Mum Uganda are: Pregnant and aspiring mothers – who receive reliable health information, pregnancy tracking tools, and access to hospitals and emergency services. New mothers and infants – who benefit from postnatal care information and improved maternal health outcomes. Fathers and families – through the Daddy Wallet feature that promotes financial preparedness and shared responsibility in maternal care.
