Buwooma is a highly nutritious porridge flour made by Esem Family Foods to fight malnutrition among all age groups in Uganda. It is made from locally sourced ingredients like soya, oats, rice, yellow corn, pumpkin seeds, milk powder, and silver fish. The mix provides essential nutrients for growth, strength, and good health. It is affordable, easy to prepare, and supports families with a healthy meal every day.

Impact

The innovation improves nutrition and food security by providing an affordable, nutrient-rich porridge made from locally sourced grains and seeds. It supports smallholder farmers through local ingredient sourcing, creates youth and women employment in processing and distribution, and contributes to reducing malnutrition and stunting among children and families in Uganda.
